HOW TO DISTRESS YOUR DENIM !!!

Don't we all love distressed denims? What if I told you that you could create one all by your self without having to shell a bomb for it? Nothings more satisfying than wearing your favourite stuff created by you. You can always buy distress denim, however you can also make one of your own. It’s a very simple process, just a few steps and u can get a trendy piece of it. To start with you can always use an old pair of denim, but just ensure to be careful with the tools & don't overdo it!
Today for my DIY project i have used my guy's denim to create the oversized ripped look; that is so much in these days.

TOOLS REQUIRED:
1. Paper Knife
2. Scissors
3. Tweezers
4. Safety Pin
5. Pen
6. Sandpaper.

STEP 1: Lay the denim on a flat surface and mark the places where you would like to fray it. There is no particular shape, size or place for it. Just ensure that you figure out where the stress point is because these are the places where your denim would wear out naturally. Here I have marked the thighs, the knees and a little on the shin.

STEP 2: Using a paper knife start creating the holes, tear or rip that you are aiming for. As u can see in the picture I have made horizontal tears on the denim to get the frayed look. In order to protect the other side of the denim you may want to insert a wooden block or any hard surface into the pant leg.

STEP 3: This would be the trickiest step. To create a bigger ripped look where you see the horizontal white threads on the pants you would need to use a tweezer to pull out the vertical blue threads. To make it look torn you will need to use a safety pin to carefully pull out the white horizontal threads ensuring that you don't damage the blue threads.

This is how it should look after you have completed Step 3.

STEP 4: After you are done with the above mentioned step, use the scissors to remove the extra threads that come out on the sides.

STEP 5: Use a coarse sandpaper to gently rub these areas to give a natural frayed look.
STEP6: Wash your denim to enhance the tearing and distressing that you have just made.

Finally your denim should look this way after you have done all the steps mentioned.

Be it a loose sweater, jumper or a fitted top, your denim is good to go with almost anything.
