DENIMISTA

So, i have been going through a lot of crazy fashion phase lately. Hopping around amidst all the fashion era, this time i decided to stop by at the 90’s.
As trends come back around, overalls are having a major moment right now. Not necessarily they need to be an unsightly sack of denims as we thought of it and this statement is aptly proved by this Denim Dungaree dress that i am sporting from Zara. With this love for denim going nowhere anytime soon i decided it was time that i embrace denim dressing.
After a lot of mix and match i decided to team it with a chambray shirt, black peep-toed ankle boots to give it a more grunge look (not to forget my Merlot lips also played a substantial role in attaining this look), some chic sunglasses and my favorite polka dot scarf.

Dungaree dressing may not be a hit with everyone and i know they divide opinions; however i would still like to know what do you actually think about this look??

HELLO SPRING

Hi Guys, I just can’t apologize enough for getting back here at such big intervals, with my husband being out of town, dint really have anyone to click me until my friend, Sriparna decided to help me out of this misery. So now I’m back happily blogging about my love for the 70’s and all thing pretty.

If you guys have been following me on Instagram (Olivebranchbeauty) it must be quite evident by now how much i am swept away by the Retro trend. This Georgette maxi skirt instantly caught my attention for the beautiful floral print it had. From the moment I un-wrapped the package i knew this was the next thing surely going up here. It has the perfect mix of happy colours to make the summer all the more cheerful. I feel the denim shirt and the minimal accessories do complete justice to my outfit, allowing the prints to speak.

A RED DAY OUT..

Hello guys,i have been missing in action for almost a year now..though i have been thinking of getting back to blogging but something or the other kept stopping me.But finally now that i am back i decided to start this year with some Indian wear.
These pictures were clicked on my trip to Konark Temple,Bhubaneshwar. Keeping in mind of the Indian culture and all the beautiful sculptures  and architectures there,i  wanted to wear something Indian. So this full sleeved red suit was the best that i could think of wearing to this place.
I picked up this suit from Pantaloons, the Angrakha style and the colour of the suit instantly caught my eye and i knew that it would be a worthwhile investment for years to come.It has a beautiful golden and blue border detailing on the bottom of the suit and around the neck.I kept the look simple as it was a day outing, with a blue churidar and golden slippers was an obvious choice keeping in mind the look i wanted to achieve and also for the comfort that it provides.A red bindi, some nude lipstick and lots of kajal and mascara completes the look.

SEA COATED

Hello people, sorry for missing in action for such a long time. These photographs were shot on our outing at Greece. Not that i had planned the shoot for this look, but as soon as my guy started clicking i found out that it kinda turned out to be nice and so thought it was a must share. This casual look was very easily attained by some simple mix and match. With the weather in Greece not being too warm nor too cold,i wanted to wear something to just cover myself keeping in mind that it shouldn't be too warm. This MANGO BLAZER with folded sleeves which added a more casual essence to the look fit right into the place.Denim was an obvious choice with it and to add a little monochromatic look i decided to pair it with a sleeveless white vest from STRADIVARIUS.The moustache chain added the hint of colour i wanted to this ensemble.Makeup was kept minimal with little kohl on both my upper and lower lid and nude lips.

SUNKISSED ENSEMBLE

I have been waiting to be clicked in this Bright yellow top which is one of  my favourite new acquisition that i picked up from ZARA. What made me instantly fall for this top was the Chiffon detailing on the arm and the hem that added a glam quotient to a otherwise simple top. After a lot of brainstorming i realised that white pants would suit the best and do complete justice to this fresh colour. This ensemble was all about casual dressing on a summer evening, nothing really experimental about the look apart from the denim jacket that i decided to team it with the rest of the attire.Kept the makeup minimal with dark eyes and orange hued lips.

HOW TO DISTRESS YOUR DENIM !!!

Don't we all love distressed denims? What if I told you that you could create one all by your self without having to shell a bomb for it? Nothings more satisfying than wearing your favourite stuff created by you. You can always buy distress denim, however you can also make one of your own. It’s a very simple process, just a few steps and u can get a trendy piece of it. To start with you can always use an old pair of denim, but just ensure to be careful with the tools & don't overdo it!
Today for my DIY project i have used my guy's denim to create the oversized ripped look; that is so much in these days.

TOOLS REQUIRED:
1. Paper Knife
2. Scissors
3. Tweezers
4. Safety Pin
5. Pen
6. Sandpaper.

STEP 1: Lay the denim on a flat surface and mark the places where you would like to fray it. There is no particular shape, size or place for it. Just ensure that you figure out where the stress point is because these are the places where your denim would wear out naturally. Here I have marked the thighs, the knees and a little on the shin.

STEP 2: Using a paper knife start creating the holes, tear or rip that you are aiming for. As u can see in the picture I have made horizontal tears on the denim to get the frayed look. In order to protect the other side of the denim you may want to insert a wooden block or any hard surface into the pant leg.

STEP 3: This would be the trickiest step. To create a bigger ripped look where you see the horizontal white threads on the pants you would need to use a tweezer to pull out the vertical blue threads. To make it look torn you will need to use a safety pin to carefully pull out the white horizontal threads ensuring that you don't damage the blue threads.

This is how it should look after you have completed Step 3.

STEP 4: After you are done with the above mentioned step, use the scissors to remove the extra threads that come out on the sides.

STEP 5: Use a coarse sandpaper to gently rub these areas to give a natural frayed look.
STEP6: Wash your denim to enhance the tearing and distressing that you have just made.

Finally your denim should look this way after you have done all the steps mentioned.

Be it a loose sweater, jumper or a fitted top, your denim is good to go with almost anything.

WHITES & NUDES ...

With so much raves and rants about the Halo look this spring i just had to try it. The nude palette perfects the natural features for an easy to wear look that lasts round the clock .If you are trying to give your skin a breather with minimal makeup yet highlighting your best features then this is the best way to do it. Moreover this is low on maintenance, you can wear it during the day without worrying about smudging your kajal or your foundation spilling .So gals i will give you a few
easy tips to wear it.

FACE: As mentioned in the previous post this time too i started with a tinted moisturiser post which dotted illuminator (REVLON PHOTOREADY SKINLIGHTS FACE ILLUMINATOR) all over my face and collarbones to give a more dewy complexion.

EYES: EYE SHADOW USED: QUATTRO EYE SHADOW 05 by ESSENCE.
To start with i covered my eyelids with the Shimmery Beige colour followed by the Brownish nude shade which was added to the outer corner of the eyes to intensify it. Next i lined the upper rim of my eyes with a Brown pencil to give It a soft look (LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL - BROWN).Ensure that you make the line as close as possible to the lash line. Now coming to the lower lid, a White eyepencil (WATER PROOF EYEPENCIL 113) on my water line to instantly give the pick-me-up feel. I also used the brown pencil to outline the lower lid and then smudged it with the ring finger to make it look diffused. At last I completed the eye makeup with 2 coats of mascara to my lashes.

EYEBROWS: I have been trying to grow out the eyebrows to have a more bushy look however it is always essential to tweeze the extras. Bushier eyebrows have been so much in trend lately; it instantly adds the androgynous factor to your overall appearance. Hence I used DARK BROWN 286 by DEBORAH to fill in my eyebrows for the added look.

LIPS: Blending 2 or more colours is always the best way to get that perfect shade for your lips and for this i used LAKME TOFFEE NEXUS MB4 and MAYBELLINE BRONZE ORANGE CB42.After filling in the colours with a lip brush i topped it with a SHEER LIP GLOSS by LOVE & BEAUTY.

CHEEKS: Finally MAYBELLINE CHEEKY GLOW--PEACHY SWEETIE was applied on the top of the cheeks to give that rosy blush.

With the final stroke of blush on your cheeks you have instantly become a part of the most trending spring summer look.
